Hall confident looking ahead to Lake Tahoe stage

Australian Lauretta Hanson was UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling’s best finisher with a solid ninth place after spending the day working for team’s GC hopefuls.

“Today was a good day,” Hanson said. “The main goal was to keep our GC riders in a good position and ensure that no GC threats went up the road. In the last 10km, with the bunch all together, I was able to change my focus to the sprint and managed to pick up a top ten on the stage. Everyone is feeling good and looking forward to the Tahoe stage tomorrow.”

Tomorrow’s 108-kilometer race will be the ultimate GC test at the Tour of California. With three QOMS, including the category 1 climb up Daggett Summit, Katie Hall is motivated and ready to do one better than her second place on this stage last year. Hall has already proven she’s in top condition, winning the overall at Joe Martin Stage Race, Tour of the Gila and Redlands Classic this year.

“I feel good and excited to race,” Hall said. “This is one of my favorite races of the year. There is some tough competition here who I haven’t gone up against yet this year but I am confident in myself and my team and we’re ready to race.”

Stage 2 starts at 11 am PDT.
