Tvetcov top finisher in short prologue
Second overall last year, Gavin Mannion also finished with a strong time of 6:40, slotting him into 11th place on the day.
“It was a very good team-performance of our guys with four guys in the first 15 of the results,” team director Hendrik Redant said. It was a great performance from the BMC team with a full podium. Followed By two riders of Lotto-Jumbo, both of them world tour teams. We had the first pro-continental rider result with Serghei Tvetcov. Very nice.”
Colombian climber Daniel Jaramillo also finished within the top 20, with a 6:41 on the short, but testing course, putting all four riders within striking distance of the GC in the coming days.
“Tomorrow is expected to be a hard race with a long climb, but still predictions are that it will finish in a bunch sprint, so it will be great opportunity for Travis McCabe,” Redant said.
