The twenty-seven year old Wiles has held onto the Mountains Jersey throughout the Lotto Thuringen Ladies Tour, and today showed her finishing strength and wit with by taking the win on stage 5.  In the final moments of the stage rain pelted the field, and the cobbled finish turned from simply difficult to treacherous.  In the last meters Ruth Winder followed Lauren Stephens (SVB-TIB) for the finishing sprint, but the both were taken out by a slippery cobble on the outside of the final corner.  Tayler Wiles was quick enough to slide around them and sprint across the finish line taking the win.

Coming into the last climb of the day a lot of the GC riders started attacking so I was patient. On a steep pitch, I went all in and jumped up to the break Ruth was in. Ruth went straight to the front and drove it hard to help me gain time on the field, she worked so hard and was key to us staying away. The last few corners were pretty tough being wet cobbles and unfortunately they both came down just before the line and I just made it around them. A bitter sweet way to win as I’m hurting for Ruth, but thankfully she is okay. This win is for Ruth and the rest of the team who have fought so hard at this race and always believed in me. I couldn’t have done it without them.
