Perfect lead out for Hall sets stage for two wins
Lauren Hall, one of the major players in the women’s Colorado Classic, came down from Breckenridge on Friday with a mind to win. The women’s team had just that morning wrapped up two days of racing the Colorado Classic where they captured the overall Team General Classification win plus put Tayler Wiles on the podium on day two. In spite of two hard days of circuit racing and climbing, the women were ready to fight at the Velorama Criteriums races, held in the RiNo arts district of Denver.
“Tonight was an aggressive crit.” Director Rachel Heal said of the Friday race. “We were in every move, and started to lead out with just over lap to go. We let Rally come over the top on the back straight, then Ruth Winder hit out in the finishing straight leading out Lauren with Lauretta on her wheel. Lauren took the win and Lauretta was right there with her in 2nd.”
When asked about how she felt taking the win after an already full day of racing already Hall said, “It’s been a full day of racing and to get the win for the girls tonight was an amazing feeling. Ruth did a monster pull to get Lauretta and I to the line and the whole team did a stellar job of covering attacks and being there for each other.”
Lauren Hall took the top step, with Lauretta Hanson right next to her in second spot on Friday.
Tonight was perfect teamwork by everyone throughout the race.

The second night of the racing was even more aggressive than the first, since the athletes were fresh from not having raced in the morning.
According to Rachel Heal, “As it worked to well yesterday, the plan was same again for today. However, the field was even more aggressive today with some fresher legs after not having raced in the morning. But, again we were represented in every move. We delivered a perfect lead out and Lauren was able to make it two for two, a great way to round off a good few days of racing.”
Lauren Hall, emphasizing that the critical role of teamwork, said, “It was another great day of racing with amazing teamwork. Any one of us could’ve won tonight and I’m thankful to pull off the win again for the girls.”
