Lauren Hall took home 3rd place in women’s omnium while Diana Peñuela scored third podium of the week
Carlos Alzate’s success throughout the four days of racing meant he racked up enough points to take the overall omnium win after Monday’s Benton Park Classic. His third place finish on the final day of racing pushed him over the top for the points win.
I am very happy to win the omnium here at the Gateway Cup. The team rode very well for four days in spite of a few crashes and illnesses. We’ve come to this race for several years now and it’s always difficult racing.

Luke Keough also put in a strong performance this week at the Gateway Cup, earning three podium spots.
This year was another great year at the Gateway Cup with the Unitedhealthcare Team we won two of the four days and the overall plus second place on two days. The full field of strong guys made it super fast from start to finish.

On the final day of the women’s race Janelle Cole earned her first USA Cycling Pro Road Tour podium spot, finishing second behind Tina Pic (Flamingo Racing) and ahead of Diana Peñuela who earned her third podium of the week.
I’m so proud to wear the UnitedHealthcare uniform and to be able to contribute to the continuing success of this first-class organization. Today was special for me: not only did we work together to earn spots on both the stage and GC podium, my teammates honored me with confidence in their development rider (aka,me!).

Lauren Hall, happy with her performance in the omnium plus the wins earlier in the week, rounded out the week in third place overall in points.
Having Janelle earn her first PRT podium is what defines this team: growing, believing in each other, and getting everyone on the team to the podium when it’s their time to shine.

The Gateway Cup wraps up the official road season for the women’s team, and Director Rachel Heal said she was, “proud of the way all the women raced all week.” She added that, “a win, two second places and 2 third places, plus a podium in the omnium a great week of racing to end the season.”
