McCabe retains sprint jersey after queen stage
“We had two goals today,” Jaramillo said. “One was to focus on getting our GC guys Serghei Tvetcov and Gavin Mannion in good position before the final climb, and the other was to collect as many KOM points as possible. I think we achieved our goal, and I’m feeling good to try and move into the KOM jersey tomorrow.”
Jaramillo claimed maximum points on the first KOM summit at Jordanelle, a category four climb, and continued to push the pace on the next ascent, Guardsmans Pass. This category 1 climb offered 10 more points, which Jaramillo also collected, bumping him from 11th at the start of the day in that competition into the virtual lead with one HC climb remaining to the finish at Snowbird.
At the end of the day, the Colombian climber sits just three points behind overall and KOM leader Sepp Kuss with two opportunities for KOM points on the final day.
Travis McCabe, who has already won the first and third stage in this year’s edition of the Tour of Utah, retains his lead in the Utah Sports Commission Sprint jersey with 55 points, 28 ahead of his closest rival, Jasper Philipsen.
Tomorrow’s final stage a 126 kilometer jaunt around Park City featuring the HC categorized Empire Pass, which comes nine kilometres from the finish in town.
