Winder Makes it Two for Two
The women’s team went into stage two knowing that they would have to defend the leaders jersey, and defend it they did. With patience, and strategically protecting Winder all day the team was able to pull off the win in downtown Fayetteville.
It was a really good day of team work. The girls took great care of me. Hagens Berman threw down a few great attacks but the team pulled back each one well. Coming into the finish line there were a few teams with lead out trains, but we held patient and stayed in good position before the last corner when Katie Hall hit it. I put my head down and held it to the line.

Haedo Adds Fourth Friday Stage Win to his Joe Martin Stage Race Palmares
With Gavin Mannion sitting so well on the overall GC with his third place finish on stage 1, the team knew that they needed to go into stage 2 looking to win. The plan was formulated at the start of the day and the drag race to the slight uphill finish meant that timing and placement were critical.
It was pretty hard. The team did very well. In the morning we made a plan to be in the front at 300 meters, when that happened, I was fourth wheel, a little far back but I made it work. I want to say thank you to my team for the victory.
Lucas Sebastian Haedo
This is the fourth time that Haedo has captured the win on the Friday stage at the Joe Martin Stage Race. Although the finish has shifted over the years he had an idea of what to expect on the road. Previous wins for Haedo are 2008, 2009, and 2016. When asked about how the day came to pass Director Sebastian Alexandre said, “today was a good day for us. We started with a plan for the win and it paid off. We knew that going into the day with Rally in the yellow jersey it would be difficult to change GC positions, but we focused on the stage win.”
At the close of Stage 2 Gavin Mannion currently sits 2nd on GC with Alex Cataford rounding out the top-10 on GC.
